I am Arijit Mondal, a passionate photographer from Durgapur, West Bengal, India, whose lens has always been drawn to the intricate beauty of the natural world. Macro photography and wildlife are my true obsessions — I find endless wonder in the delicate details of a spider’s web glistening with dew, the vibrant dance of a butterfly on a flower , the powerful gaze of a tiger in the wild, or the serene sweep of a moody landscape at dawn. Photography is not just my hobby; it is my way of connecting deeply with nature, preserving fleeting moments, and sharing stories that words alone cannot capture.
By profession, I am a Mechanical engineer and entrepreneur, but my heart has always belonged to the camera. What began as a personal passion has grown into a fulfilling journey filled with international recognition. My work has been honored through awards such as the CAPA 2017 win, CIYF Runners-up in 2017 and 2018, and multiple finalist positions in the prestigious HIPA (Hamdan International Photography Award) in Dubai. I am proud to have had my images published by respected institutions and platforms including National Geographic, the Smithsonian, WWF, Sanctuary Asia, Saevus, and Roundglass Sustain. These achievements fuel my drive to keep exploring, learning, and refining my craft with every frame I take.
Beyond the lens, family is at the center of my world and the deepest source of my inspiration.
I am a proud father to my talented daughter, Arimita Mondal (Diti), an 18-year-old photographer and aspiring fashion designer with whom I have the joy of collaborating on creative projects. Watching her grow as an artist and capturing moments together — whether it’s a father-daughter photography session or mentoring her through edits and lighting — has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Being the best father to her is my greatest dream and motivation.
Equally important is the influence of my mother, Aparna Mondal , a gifted wildlife photographer in her own right. Her passion for capturing the wild has been a guiding light for our entire family, passing down a shared love for nature and the patience required to truly see its hidden wonders. From our earliest days exploring the outdoors together to the present, where she continues to celebrate and encourage every new image from Diti and me, her quiet strength, artistic eye, and unwavering support have shaped who I am today. Our home is filled with stories told through photographs — three generations bound by the same lens and the same deep respect for the natural world.
When I am not behind the camera, I enjoy a rich and balanced life filled with movies, music, Bengali literature, travel, and the occasional football match. These interests keep me inspired and grounded, reminding me that creativity flows from a life well-lived. Whether I am trekking through forests in search of elusive wildlife, experimenting with macro techniques in my home studio, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with family, my goal remains the same: to celebrate the wonders of our planet and pass on that sense of awe to others.
Through my photography, I strive to inspire a deeper appreciation for nature’s delicate balance and to encourage fellow enthusiasts to pick up their cameras and explore the world around them. Every image I create is a tribute to the beauty that surrounds us — and a reminder that, with patience, curiosity, and heart, we can all become storytellers of the natural world.
